The ultimate vegan breakfast sandwich with eggs, sausage and cheese just launched at 500 Whole Foods


The ultimate vegan breakfast sandwich is coming to 500 Whole Foods Market stores nationwide. The Field Roast Classic Style Sausage, Egg and Cheese Plant-Based Breakfast Sandwich was developed in partnership with food tech startup Eat Just and includes Field Roast’s Vegan Breakfast Sausage, a slice of its own. Chao Creamery cheese in the original creamy flavor, Eat Just’s mung JUST Egg made from beans, all of which are sandwiched between a vegan English muffin.

“We are delighted to extend our valuable relationship with an innovator like Eat Just, as we continue our focus and brand momentum on the innovation of the Field Roast portfolio,” said Dan Curtin, Chairman of the parent company of Field. Roast, Greenleaf Foods, in a statement. “This collaboration with two herbal industry leaders who are joining forces will provide a better breakfast solution for the consumer looking for high quality and delicious herbal options for their mornings.”

Brands developed the sandwich after a poll commissioned by Eat Just found that of 2,000 people polled, nearly six in 10 were switching to a more plant-based diet, with breakfast being identified as a moment key for meals. “Since its inception, Field Roast has built equity capital by leveraging bold flavor profiles to create mouth-watering plant-based foods. This collaboration adds an innovative new co-branded product to their already impressive portfolio, ”said Josh Tetrick, co-founder and CEO of Eat Just, in a statement. “Our combined expertise in the breakfast space has produced a superior breakfast offering that offers both flavor and convenience.”

The new sandwich (which has a suggested retail price of $ 4.49) will first be available at Whole Foods before expanding to other retailers in 2022.

Vegan breakfast sandwiches up for grabs

For a different take on the classic breakfast, vegan convenience brand Alpha Foods recently launched their own sandwich. Meatless Sausage, Plant Egg & Cheeze, which features vegan cheese from Greek brand Violife and sausages from Alpha Foods, was released in May at many Costco stores in Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area. and the Southeast region (which includes stores in Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Florida and Puerto Rico). While it’s easy to reheat and eat these vegan breakfast sandwiches, for those who prefer zero extra work at breakfast time, a number of coffee chains have launched vegan options for them. to help. At New York-based Gregory’s chain, visitors can opt for a Vegan Deluxe that includes JUST Egg, Beyond Breakfast Sausage, and Daiya Foods cheddar cheese, all served on a toasted vegan croissant. At the Peet’s coffeehouse chain, breakfast got a makeover in March with the launch of the plant-based Everything sandwich which features a Beyond Meat breakfast sausage patty, JUST folded eggs, Processed dairy free cheddar cheese and is served on a thin bagel.


San Francisco-based Philz also jumped into the vegan breakfast sandwich game in March with the launch of the vegan sandwich at its California locations. After just two months on the menu, the sandwich – which also includes JUST folded eggs, Beyond Breakfast sausage, and vegan cheese and is served with a sachet of hot sauce for a kick out – was the second breakfast item. no longer ordered from Philz, pushing the chain to expand the offering to its Washington, DC and Chicago locations.

And at Starbucks, the world’s largest coffeehouse chain, a vegan breakfast sandwich isn’t on the national menu just yet, but that may change soon. The chain added the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich (non-vegan) to nationwide locations last summer. He also started testing the (vegan) breakfast sandwich at a Seattle-area site last fall. While the cafe chain expanded the vegan sandwich to test locations in the Dallas area in January, it’s not yet clear if and when Starbucks will make vegan breakfast sandwiches a reality for customers nationwide.
